ISDN PRI NM-1CE1B card configuration

Dear All,

I have in installed ISDN PRI NM-1CE1B card in my Cisco 3660 Router, even after configuration it is showing ISDN STATUS = Deactivated ,
Kindly pls help with some sample configaration.
And in my card LOCAL ALARM LED is glowing what it could be.

The “deactivated” ISDN status usually indicates an incompatibility of switchtype configured between the router and your telco’s equipment.
I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Connect a regular analog phone to the ISDN socket. You will not hear a regular dial tone, but you should get some kind of noise. If you don’t hear anything this line doesn’t have an ISDN service and you should contact your telco to investigate this.
  • Issue clear interface bri command with the appropriate interface number at the end of the line.
  • Make sure you have a clear configuration of the bri interface. Some commands like backup interface may prevent the BRI to become active. You can issue the default interface command to clear all the configuration of the specified interface.
  • Every telco works with it’s switchtype that should be configured on the router. You can contact your telco to determine the switchtype they’re using. To configure it use the following global configuration command: isdn switch-type and the switchtype keyword.
